Ghost Recon Festival

I asked one of my colleagues to give me a brief for a level and they came up with a brief to create a third person shooter level that could be played multiple times and each time it would be different. Additionally the same level could be used for a variety of different scenarios within the game. Finally the cover had to be at certain heights for different levels of cover (standing, crouching, firing over etc).

I decided to create a Festival that was being set up for this level. I am a huge festival fan so I took a lot of inspiration from festivals like Glastonbury and Tomorrowland. This gave me one big focal point being the stage but then freedom to create whatever with the other areas of the level, as every festival is different. I designed this level to be used within games like GTA or the Ghost Recon series.

I created a variety of different paths and routes that players could take to complete the goal depending on what playstyle they wanted, all with exciting opportunities for mechanics and combat.

The different scenarios I designed for this level were: A wave defence on the stage, a hostage retrieval from the VIP area and corrupting intel that is stored in the backstage area.

For this project I focused on really sticking to the brief. Whenever I had an idea I would check it would work with the parameters I had been set. Additionally I asked myself if it would be enjoyable playing it a second or a third time.
